Dr. Vijay Agarwal is an internationally trained and highly accomplished cardiothoracic surgeon specializing in pediatric and congenital heart surgery, with over 25 years of experience across India, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East.
After earning his M.B.B.S. and M.S. degrees from Calcutta University, Dr. Agarwal completed his M.Ch. in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute, followed by the prestigious FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. His career spans leadership roles at Fortis Hospitals in Mumbai and Gurgaon, The Madras Medical Mission, Health World Hospital Durgapur, and international tenures in Belfast, Liverpool, London, and Riyadh.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Agarwal has independently performed more than 4,000 pediatric heart surgeries, including arterial and atrial switch operations, Fontan, Rastelli, TAPVC, TOF repair, Norwood procedures, double root translocations, Ross operations, and pediatric heart transplants. He is also proficient in adult cardiac surgery such as CABG, valve replacements, aortic root enlargements, Bentall procedures, TAVI (Sapien 3), and management of post-MI VSD.
He has made pioneering contributions in 3D heart model development, root translocation procedures, and led India’s early pediatric heart transplant programs. His innovations have been presented across conferences such as IACTSCON, AATS, and global surgical workshops in Paris, Zurich, London, and Canada.
